This role involves investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling auto claims, specifically focusing on fire and theft cases. The adjuster will make liability decisions, ensure all relevant information is obtained, and assist customers through the claims process while working with investigators to identify red flags and coverage issues.
Responsibilities
- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle auto claims in assigned area
- Verify coverage, legal liability, and extent of damage to persons and property
- Work with Fire & Theft Investigators to identify red flags, organized activity, and coverage issues
- Provide superior service to customers through the claims process in a virtual or centralized call center
- Ensure integrity of investigations by developing accurate and relevant investigation material and data acquisition
- Resolve claim calls with professionalism and empathy while meeting phone staffing metrics
- Issue payments as per discretionary settlement authority limits
- Adjust reserves properly and understand their impact on a claim
- Prepare written letters and review written repair estimates
- Read and understand insurance policies to apply knowledge when making claim decisions
- Ensure compliance requirements for claims handling correspondence are met in a timely and professional manner
Requirements
- High school diploma
- 4 years related claims experience
- 2 years experience either in Fire or Theft
- Ability to obtain an adjuster license in Texas and other states
- Appropriately licensed and/or certified in all states in which claims are being handled
- Knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices
- Experience with related claims and business software
- Proficient with computer window-based programs, Google Drive, and Google Apps
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Qualifications
- High school diploma and 4 years related claims experience. Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 4 years related claims experience; 2 years experience either in Fire or Theft
