The Finishing Operator is responsible for safely setting up and operating finishing and packing equipment to produce quality products according to specifications and output requirements. This role also involves preparing products for shipment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate assigned finishing equipment, including tabletop, editing, and slitting equipment to meet quality and accuracy standards.
- Set up and operate packing equipment, such as box formers, auto baggers, flow wrapper, heat shrink, and scanning/programming equipment.
- Adjust machine controls manually or digitally, including speed, tension, footage, web tracking, and blade settings, before and during operations.
- Conduct routine inspections of products during production, flagging and eliminating defective material as needed.
- Prepare products for shipment by trimming/pressing rolls, applying flanges, printing/applying tags/labels, bagging rolls, and packing rolls into boxes.
- Review, update, and maintain production, quality, and inventory documentation, including schedules, work orders, inventory systems, production sheets, and quality logs.
- Read, understand, and adhere to engineering drawings, product specifications in job jackets, and all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform routine operator-level maintenance and cleaning on all assigned equipment.
- Cross-train on various department tasks and operator levels as assigned, and train other operators as business needs dictate.
- Strictly adhere to all safety regulations, security regulations, and company work policies, participating in site safety programs.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, including basic equipment operation, product inspection, and material handling. Experience with slitting or converting machines is a plus.
