This role is for a Field Service Engineer who will troubleshoot and maintain industrial automation systems for clients, focusing on electrical/mechanical components and software controls. The role requires a methodical problem-solver comfortable with travel and independent work in production environments.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose issues that cross mechanical, electrical, and software boundaries
- Work under pressure in live production environments, ensuring system stability and recommending optimizations
- Interface with HMI/SCADA systems, interpreting alarms, faults, and logs
- Utilize remote support tools, logs, backups, and version control practices
- Identify and address safety risks around automated equipment, adhering to LOTO and PPE guidelines
- Maintain professionalism on customer sites, even during outages or escalations
- Explain technical issues in plain language to operators and maintenance staff
- Document work clearly, including service reports, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and recommendations
- Support knowledge transfer to customer teams
- Accept travel, irregular hours, and on-call support as part of the role
Requirements
- Strong background in industrial automation, electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, or mechatronics
- Hands-on experience with PLC-controlled systems (Siemens preferred; Rockwell acceptable)
- Comfortable reading electrical schematics, network diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Working knowledge of VFDs and servo drives
- Working knowledge of sensors (photo-eyes, encoders, proximity switches, safety devices)
- Working knowledge of industrial networks (Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Profibus)
- Working knowledge of conveyors, lifts, elevators, palletizers, shuttles, and AGVs/LGVs
- Solid mechanical aptitude: chains, belts, gearboxes, bearings, alignment, and tolerances
- Methodical, logic-driven problem solver who understands systems
- Familiar with HMI/SCADA systems and interpreting alarms, faults, and logs
- Basic understanding of PLC logic flow
- Comfortable interfacing with remote support tools, logs, backups, and version control practices
- Strong safety mindset (LOTO, PPE, risk awareness)
- Able to explain technical issues in plain language to operators and maintenance staff
- Confident interacting with operators, maintenance technicians, maintenance leadership, and plant management
- Self-directed and comfortable working independently in the field
- Organized and disciplined with tools, parts, documentation, and follow-ups
Qualifications
- 3-7+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, automation service, controls technician roles, or material handling/manufacturing environments

- Experience in food & beverage, CPG, or high-throughput logistics environments
