Arizona State University is seeking Faculty Associates to develop and teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the legal aspects of interdisciplinary forensics for the 2025-2026 academic year. This role involves educating students on the interaction of technology, science, law, and legal systems to prepare them for careers in the justice system.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with instructional designers and full-time faculty to develop new interdisciplinary forensics courses
- Teach upper and/or lower-division courses to undergraduate students or graduate-level courses to master’s or doctoral students in various formats
- Prepare course syllabi, lectures, learning exercises, exams, and other course materials, and grade assignments and assessments
- Maintain regular availability to students including office hours as appropriate to course modality
- Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues
Requirements
- Either M.L.S, J.D., LL.M., or S.J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school by time of appointment and at least three years of experience in the practice of law or one year of full-time experience as a judicial law clerk
- OR an earned doctoral degree in criminology, criminal justice, psychology, political science, sociology, or a closely related field by time of appointment and at least two semesters of experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses related to courts or law
Qualifications
- Either an M.L.S, J.D., LL.M., or S.J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school OR an earned doctoral degree in criminology, criminal justice, psychology, political science, sociology, or a closely related field
- At least three years of experience in the practice of law or one year of full-time experience as a judicial law clerk OR at least two semesters of experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses related to courts or law.
Nice to Have
- An earned master’s or doctoral degree in homeland security, terrorism studies, criminology, criminal justice, psychology, political science, sociology, or a closely-related social science, in addition to an earned M.L.S, J.D., LL.M., or S.J.D. earned from an ABA-accredited law school
- Membership in a state bar (active or inactive status)
- Three or more years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably as a litigator
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students
- One or more semesters of teaching undergraduate courses with strong evidence of teaching effectiveness
- Experience with technology/course management systems
- Demonstrated excellent English written and verbal communication skills
