Teach upper and lower-division psychology courses to undergraduate and potentially graduate students, maintaining regular availability and monitoring student success. This role supports the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Arizona State University's New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences.
Responsibilities
- Teach upper and/or lower-division courses to undergraduate students, and possibly graduate students, in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats
- Prepare syllabus, lectures and class materials, exams, and grade assignments and exams
- Maintain regular availability to students including office hours as appropriate to course modality
- Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues
- Clearly communicate to perform essential functions
- Work with multiple course/teaching assistants in large classes
Requirements
- Master’s degree in psychology or related field at the time of hire
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in psychology or related field at the time of hire
Nice to Have
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students
- Experience with instruction at the post-secondary level by time of appointment
- Evidence of teaching excellence e.g., student evaluations, syllabi, peer observation, annual evaluations, teaching philosophy, etc.
- PhD in any area of Psychology or related field is required to teach graduate courses
- Educational background and/or research or clinical experience in one or more of the following: Statistics and Research Methods; Industrial Organizational Psychology; Sports Psychology; Positive Psychology; Cognitive Psychology; Developmental Psychology; Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Sports Psychology; and/or Industrial-Organizational Psychology
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Experience with learning management systems, such as Canvas
