Arizona State University is seeking Faculty Associates in Forensic Science to teach undergraduate and graduate courses at its West Valley campus during the 2025–2026 academic year. These part-time, non-benefits-eligible positions involve preparing and delivering course content, grading, and monitoring student success in a transdisciplinary forensic education program.
Responsibilities
- Teach forensic science courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats
- Prepare course syllabi, lectures, learning exercises, exams, and other course materials
- Grade assignments and assessments
- Maintain regular availability to students, including office hours as appropriate to course modality
- Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues
Requirements
- For teaching undergraduate classes: an earned master’s degree in forensic science or a closely related scientific field (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, physical anthropology); OR an earned bachelor’s degree in forensic science or a closely related scientific field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a forensic scientific field
- For teaching graduate-level classes: an earned doctoral degree or ABD in forensic science or a closely related scientific field (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, physical anthropology) by time of appointment; OR an earned master’s degree in forensic science or a closely related scientific field and at least two (2) years of related experience working in a forensic scientific field
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in forensic science or a closely related scientific field (or Bachelor's with 5+ years experience) for undergraduate classes, or Doctoral degree/ABD (or Master's with 2+ years experience) for graduate classes
Nice to Have
- Earned doctoral degree in forensic science or a closely related scientific field (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, physical anthropology, criminology, psychology, etc.)
- Experience working in public or private settings in a forensic scientific field
- Two or more semesters of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels either online or in-person
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness as demonstrated by student evaluations, peer evaluations, annual performance evaluations, or prior course syllabi
- Experience with technology/course management systems
- Demonstrated excellent English written and verbal communication skills
