Environmental Services Technician

About This Role

Maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff within a healthcare facility by following infection control and safety guidelines, focusing on cleaning and waste disposal tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas
• Empty waste baskets
• Sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors using brooms, mops, or powered machines
• Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment
• Apply knowledge to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff
• Clean patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas
• Wear proper protective equipment following guidelines
• Keep storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy
• Use pagers and other technology appropriately when needed
• Assist in laundry areas

Requirements

• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred. Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

• Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals
