About This Role

The Environmental Services Technician I is responsible for the daily cleaning of patient rooms and ancillary areas, ensuring a hygienic environment at Akron Children's. This role involves supplying rooms with paper products and performing discharge room cleaning.

Responsibilities

  • Clean patient rooms daily, supply with paper products, and perform discharge room cleaning using accepted practices and procedures
  • Clean support service areas as assigned
  • Properly use cleaning techniques, solutions, equipment, and tools
  • Provide preventative cleaning service for occupied patient areas following Ten Step Interactive Cleaning and High-Profile Cleaning Procedures
  • Perform discharge cleaning of patient areas according to Interactive Discharge Procedure
  • Perform terminal cleaning of walls, lights, and ceilings, including utilizing UV light technology
  • Adhere to all hospital and department standards for patient and guest relations, promoting a positive image of Akron Children's Hospital
  • Maintain high standards, work at a steady pace, and achieve high QA scores
  • Support other Support Services areas as needed to ensure operational efficiency
  • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately and complete other assigned duties

Requirements

  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining cleaning equipment and tools
  • Knowledge of appropriate cleaning solutions, chemicals, and supplies, including safety protocols
  • Familiarity with cleaning techniques for various surfaces and areas
  • Ability to perform specialized cleaning tasks, such as terminal cleaning and using UV light technology
  • Understanding of infection control practices and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality assurance standards
  • Capacity to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
  • Annual Respiratory Mask Fitting and recertification training mandatory

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • 2 Years of relevant experience preferred
