Engineering Leader, Molecular Biology

About This Role

Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team focused on molecular biology tools within a full-stack web application development environment. Collaborate with product and design to define the roadmap and ensure high product quality for scientific workflows.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, develop, and lead a team of exceptional engineers
• Partner closely with product and design to define roadmap and long-term product strategy
• Hold an unreasonably high bar for product quality as the teams execute their work
• Partner closely with engineers on each team to ensure excellent technical decisions
• Meet with customers to understand their science and needs from Benchling
• Contribute to engineering-wide organizational improvements as part of the management team

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience managing high-performing engineering teams
• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Experience as a technical lead on projects involving multiple engineers across multiple quarters
• Managed engineering teams responsible for a customer-focused product
• Managed geographically distributed teams
• Track record of growing early-to-mid-career engineers into leaders

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience managing high-performing engineering teams, and 5+ years of experience as a software engineer with technical leadership on multi-quarter projects.

Nice to Have

• Experience working directly with customers, product, design, and internal teams to inform roadmap
• Interest in biotech
