This role is responsible for providing timely and accurate eligibility determinations and benefit authorizations for Title IV-E and Medicaid programs for children in state custody. The role involves independent casework, including interviews, documentation, and continuous monitoring of cases.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely and accurate eligibility determinations and benefit authorizations for Title IV-E and Medicaid programs on behalf of children in the state's custody
- Perform independent case work, including conducting interviews
- Identify and obtain required documentation to determine eligibility
- Ensure continuous monitoring of cases, with thorough examination of reported or anticipated changes
- Identify, research, and resolve inconsistencies and discrepancies to reach an appropriate determination or redetermination of eligibility
Requirements
- Alaska Resident only
- Valid ID
- Successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in fields such as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting, or equivalent experience
- One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska, or one year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.
