Electronics Lab Technician

About This Role

This Electronics Lab Test Technician role supports engineering and validation activities in an electronics lab, focusing on PCBA rework, prototype testing, custom test setup, and failure troubleshooting for advanced electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform PCBA modifications, including component rework, soldering and de-soldering, and blue wire modifications in accordance with IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards
• Build wire harnesses per IPC/WHMA-A-620C specifications
• Build and set up custom test equipment using engineering diagrams and specifications
• Conduct functional testing and circuit block testing on electronic assemblies and engineering prototypes
• Troubleshoot test failures and identify root causes
• Accurately document test results and update procedures as required
• Maintain organized lab records and support continuous improvement of test processes

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience as an electronics or engineering lab technician
• Technical degree (Electronics/Engineering Technician) or equivalent practical experience
• Strong understanding of electrical and electronic systems
• Excellent soldering and wire harnessing skills
• Proven experience using lab test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, electronic loads)
• Ability to solder fine-pitch ICs and 0402 components
• Strong technical aptitude and attention to detail

Qualifications

• Technical degree (Electronics/Engineering Technician) or equivalent practical experience
• 3+ years of hands-on experience as an electronics or engineering lab technician

Nice to Have

• Experience in electric vehicle or automotive electronics environments
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
• Familiarity with Jira or similar issue-tracking tools
• Basic Python scripting experience
