Elder Abuse Junior Paralegal & Calendar Clerk

About This Role

This role involves supporting legal operations by managing e-filings, scheduling, drafting legal documents, and handling extensive calendaring for attorneys, with a focus on elder abuse cases.

Responsibilities

• Manage e-filings in both state and federal courts
• Schedule court appearances and depositions
• Draft letters, email correspondence, notices, subpoenas, and basic pleadings
• Perform word processing, including proofing briefs and creating tables of authorities and contents
• Maintain attorneys' calendars of appointments, deadlines, and reminders through heavy calendaring
• Communicate with opposing counsel, court clerks, experts, and vendors
• Oversee the service of pleadings
• Communicate with clients to obtain or provide information
• Anticipate next steps related to cases and necessary document preparation

Requirements

• Direct experience personally handling elder or dependent adult abuse cases, including pre-litigation and/or litigation capacity
• 3-5 years of experience in litigation
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Professional demeanor and appearance
• Strong personal focus on meeting or exceeding individual, department, and Firm goals
• Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented work environment

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in litigation

• Bilingual in Spanish
