About This Role

Perform routine and advanced electroencephalogram (EEG) testing, monitor patients, and recognize clinically significant events to support patient care and research at Michigan Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Perform head measurement/marking according to the international 10-20 measuring system and accurately place and secure electrodes
  • Acquire satisfactory EEG recordings according to ACNS guidelines
  • Fix electrodes, perform activation procedures (HV and Photic), disconnect and move patients, and set up rooms
  • Perform routine and portable EEGs on any patient under general supervision
  • Recognize basic EEG state changes (awake/drowsy/sleep)
  • Possess basic seizure recognition knowledge
  • Participate in EEG rounds and EEG reviews
  • Independently perform routine and portable EEGs on any patient
  • Perform advanced testing under general supervision
  • Train students during their clinical rotation and perform measurement check-offs

Requirements

  • High school graduation with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body
  • Eligibility or certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

  • High school graduation with basic science course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice to Have

  • Certification by the American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic Technologist
  • Minimum of 30 credits obtained every 5 years covering all modalities performed by the technologist
