Assist part-time with processing medication refills and prior authorizations in a geriatric clinic, working under the supervision of clinic nurses and a doctor. Interns will reconcile prescription requests, communicate with healthcare providers and patients, and process prior authorization requests.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile patient and pharmacy-initiated prescription refill requests with active medications in MiChart
- Transmit prescription refill authorizations to pharmacies electronically, by phone, or fax
- Communicate with health care providers (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists) verbally and in writing
- Communicate with patients verbally
- Process prior authorization requests
- Document work through normal clinic processes
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Michigan Pharmacy Intern License on or before hire date
- Proficient communication skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to prioritize with accuracy and dependability
- Ability to perform a wide range of physical activity
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
Nice to Have
- Prior Intern experience
- Basic algebra including performing pharmacy calculations
