About This Role

Join the Earth & Environment Team as an Early Career Geochemist to support hydrogeochemistry-related projects with an emphasis on environmental hydrogeochemistry for the mining, oil & gas, power, and solid waste industries.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for hydrogeochemical projects, including permitting, baseline studies, operational support, and reclamation/remediation, particularly for the mining industry
  • Conduct hydrogeochemical investigation and characterization studies associated with groundwater, surface water, wastes, and geological materials
  • Validate, manage, and analyze hydrogeochemical data
  • Conduct hydrogeochemical modeling
  • Prepare reports and presentations and participate in client meetings
  • Demonstrate a “Safety-First” focus
  • Work with cross-functional teams to execute project work

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geochemistry, or related field
  • 0 to 1 years of experience working as a Geochemist or adjacent professional discipline
  • Strong coursework or experience in aqueous chemistry and/or low-temperature geochemistry
  • Knowledge of geology, geochemistry, hydrochemistry, mineralogy, hydrology, and/or chemical hydrogeology with a strong quantitative background
  • Experience with data manipulation and compilation, including experience with data management and statistical tools
  • Experience with water quality and geochemical modeling using common codes (i.e., PHREEQC, Geochemist’s Workbench, MIN3P, etc.)
  • Experience producing written reports and presentations to convey technical information
  • Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently with supervision, as well as part of a team
  • Eligible to work permanently in the United States
  • Valid driver's license
  • Pass a pre-employment physical (including drug screening) and criminal background check

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geochemistry, or related field
  • 0-1 years of experience working as a Geochemist or adjacent professional discipline

Nice to Have

  • Graduate Degree
  • Experience in field data collection
  • Experience with data validation techniques for environmental data
  • Working knowledge of a specialized branch of geochemistry (e.g., isotope geochemistry, organic contaminants, microbially-mediated degradation processes, or coal combustion residue (CCR) chemistry)
  • Understanding of laboratory analytical methods
