Driver Technician

About This Role

This role involves safely operating a DOT regulated vehicle to deliver and pick up equipment, performing fusion machine operations to build HDPE pipelines at customer sites, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational requirements. The Driver Technician will work independently, maintain a safe environment, and contribute to Xylem's mission of solving water challenges.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a DOT regulated vehicle for deliveries and pickups.
• Identify, load, and secure equipment on trucks and trailers according to FMCSA and DOT guidelines.
• Operate fusion machines to build HDPE pipelines on customer sites and ensure operational requirements are met.
• Perform visual inspections of equipment, note any damage, and obtain customer signatures.
• Ensure yard and loading areas are clean and organized.
• Follow all safety processes, procedures, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Complete Job Safety Assessments before starting work on customer sites.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while functioning effectively in a team environment.
• Maintain a safe working environment and culture.
• Demonstrate a high-impact culture through innovation, accountability, and empowerment.

Requirements

• HS diploma or equivalent
• Capable of obtaining a CDL, class A or B with applicable endorsements
• Ability to obtain all required customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.)
• Ability to obtain DOT Medical card
• Clean driving record
• Ability to drive overnight

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent
• 0 to 2 years of technical work experience; 1 year preferred and 1-2 years in construction preferred.

Nice to Have

• Experience with flatbed trailers and proper load securement techniques (chaining, strapping, etc.)
• Fusion experience
• One to two years’ experience in the construction industry
