DRG Certified Coder

About This Role

Join the Health Information Management team as a DRG Certified Coder to accurately assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, validate DRG assignments, and ensure compliance with federal coding guidelines. This role optimizes reimbursement and supports clinical documentation integrity.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records to accurately assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes
• Assign and validate MS-DRGs / APR-DRGs to ensure appropriate reimbursement
• Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) teams to clarify documentation
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with CMS, AHA Coding Clinic, and organizational policies
• Maintain productivity and quality standards established by the department
• Analyze discrepancies and resolve DRG validation issues identified through audits or queries
• Participate in ongoing education to stay current with coding updates, regulations, and DRG changes
• Assist in compliance audits as needed

Requirements

• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes
• Validate DRG assignments
• Compliance with federal coding guidelines
• Medical coding experience
• DRG Audit experience
