District Support Pharmacist

About This Role

This role involves serving as a District Support Pharmacist for CVS Health, covering scheduling gaps across various pharmacies in the district. The DSP is accountable for managing and operating the pharmacy, ensuring safe dispensing, counseling, immunizing practices, and providing compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

• Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
• Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator (DPC).
• Oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap.
• Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the pharmacy team on workflow procedures.
• Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and coaching the pharmacy team to do the same.
• Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and engage Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
• Support effective management of pharmacy inventory by following and guiding the team on best practices.
• Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
• Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge.
• Support access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist delivered clinical care where permissible.
• Comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies.

Requirements

• Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
• Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
• Ability to travel within a reasonable radius
• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
• Ability to complete required training

Qualifications

• Entry level with 1-2 years of related work experience preferred.

Nice to Have

• 1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
