The District Support Pharmacist will travel within the district to cover pharmacist scheduling gaps, overseeing pharmacy operations and serving as the Pharmacy Manager's proxy. This role involves managing patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
Responsibilities
- Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
- Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator (DPC)
- Oversee the pharmacy and serving as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails
- Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or the primary pharmacist-on-duty
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care and coaching the pharmacy team
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy; engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
- Support the effective management of pharmacy inventory by following all inventory best practices
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills as the industry evolves (including company-required trainings and CMEs)
- Support access to care and helping to improve patient outcomes through pharmacist delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services
- Comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies and procedures
Requirements
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
- Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Attention and Focus: ability to concentrate, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription information
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: actively look for ways to help people, notice and understand patients’ reactions
- Communication Skills: use and understand verbal and written communication, utilize active listening
- Mathematical Reasoning: ability to use math to solve problems
- Problem Resolution: identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action
- Physical Demands: mobile and remain upright for extended periods, lift, scan, and bag items, reach overhead, move fingers repetitively, extend hand(s) and arm(s), control precision, stoop, close visual acuity, occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.

- 1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
