The District Support Pharmacist plays a critical role in providing comprehensive pharmacy services, managing operations, and supporting pharmacy teams across the district. This position involves ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, delivering immunizations, and maintaining high standards of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
- Travel within the district to cover pharmacist scheduling gaps.
- Oversee pharmacy operations and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by adhering to pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
- Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, genuine care, and coaching the pharmacy team.
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy and engage Pharmacy Technicians to immunize.
- Support effective management of pharmacy inventory, focusing on protecting cold chain products.
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, including company-required trainings and CMEs.
- Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care (e.g., testing and prescribing services).
- Comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
- Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Attention and Focus: ability to concentrate, pivot tasks, confirm prescription information
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: ability to help people in a friendly manner, understand patient reactions
- Communication Skills: verbal and written communication, active listening
- Mathematical Reasoning: ability to use math to solve problems (e.g., dispensing calculations)
- Problem Resolution: identifying challenging interactions and choosing best course of action
- Physical Demands: mobile, upright for extended periods, lift, scan, bag items, reach overhead, move fingers repetitively, extend hands, adjust machines, stoop, close visual acuity
Nice to Have
- 1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
