Director of Nursing

About This Role

Lead and manage the nursing services program for a correctional health care provider, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and national standards, while coordinating patient care, staff development, and budget administration.

Responsibilities

• Receive and review daily outpatient and infirmary reports
• Participate in comprehensive planning and implementation of the Nursing Services Program
• Direct planning, priority setting and the development of policies and procedures for the Division of Nursing Services
• Coordinate and monitor orientation, in-services and continuing education within the Division of Nursing Services
• Coordinate the development, provision and evaluation of patient care according to quality care standards
• Conduct recruitment and retention efforts for the Division of Nursing Services
• Participate in the development and administration of a budget for Nursing Services
• Chair Infection Control Committee and develop/implement procedures, audits and nursing in-services
• Prepare and submit monthly reports to the Health Care Unit Administrator
• Develop and maintain staff schedule for Division of Nursing Service in accordance with contract terms

Requirements

• Current State Registered Nursing License
• Current CPR Certification
• Graduate of nursing school

Qualifications

• Graduate of nursing school required; BSN preferred
• 3 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership nursing role preferred; 2 years of administrative and/or correctional nursing experience can be substituted for BSN
