Detailer / PM

About This Role

Detail rebar from contractor drawings, plans, or blueprints, and integrate new technologies into rebar fabrication operations. Oversee project details, communicate with customers and fabricators, and train junior Detailers.

Responsibilities

• Determine design requirements for concrete and masonry reinforcement
• Generate accurate placement drawings for submittal and field reinforcing placement
• Facilitate projects between Contractor, Fabricator, and Ironworkers to meet schedule, budget, and quality expectations
• Maintain clear and accurate comparison of detailed weights and quantities versus estimated amounts, reporting discrepancies
• Communicate with customers and fabrication managers to ensure reasonable scheduling expectations are met
• Communicate with customers and designers to clarify missing or unclear reinforcing information
• Maintain and update project status in the project management system (aSa, RMS, or other)
• Train entry-level Detailers to detail structural rebar manually or using CAD
• Gather project details from customers and schedule with the rebar shop
• Provide oversight in reviewing plans and drawing out how rebar should be bent, cut, and sized

Requirements

• Skill in data analysis techniques for resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies
• Ability to work with increasing independence and receive guidance only on unusual problems or issues

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a related discipline OR MS/MA in a related field
• Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field with a BS/BA, OR generally 3-5 years of experience with an MS/MA

Nice to Have

• Certificate of completion in drafting, industrial drawing or construction from a college or technical school
• Work experience in construction, rebar fabrication or drafting
• Engineering background
