Daycare Teacher - Infant / Toddler / Preschool

About This Role

This role involves assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of classroom activities for infant, toddler, and preschool children at the YMCA in Kettering, OH. The teacher ensures children's social, physical, spiritual, and mental development while prioritizing safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement weekly lesson plans that fit the children’s needs, interests, and developmental levels in the classroom
• Work cooperatively with Lead Teacher, Site Administrator, other staff, and partners
• Document attendance, absenteeism, transitions, minor disciplines, and incidents for each child
• Manage the appearance and organization of the classroom and program areas, maintaining quality of supplies and equipment
• Report broken or unsafe toys and regularly disinfect toys and equipment in accordance with state regulations
• Conduct the program in accordance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) guidelines
• Effectively communicate verbal and written reports to parents and conduct parent/teacher conferences
• Monitor and assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the child care and program area
• Maintain appropriate adult/child ratio and fill in other classrooms when needed
• Attend parent events/family programs, scheduled staff meetings, staff activities, and ongoing trainings

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Six months experience working in early childhood field strongly preferred

Nice to Have

• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university
• Six months experience working in early childhood field
