This Data Center Technician role involves staging, setting up, and deploying hardware, alongside troubleshooting and de-commissioning equipment following standard procedures. The position contributes to the core infrastructure of Microsoft's cloud services, powering major platforms like Azure and Office 365.
Responsibilities
- Comply with Data Center business unit policies, procedures, and deadlines
- Complete assigned tickets efficiently and in alignment with relevant KPIs
- Provide guidance and assistance to less experienced technicians with complex tickets or tasks
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting and replace faulty components in network, storage, or server equipment
- Directly perform decommissions, simple changes, and refreshes of infrastructure equipment
- Communicate, report, and escalate data center technical or safety related incidents to management
- Participate in daily safety briefings and comply with EHS training and procedures
- Complete required security and data management training and comply with policies
- Develop an understanding of cross-functional Data Center processes to support partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Complete required training aligned to job focus areas and workloads
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components OR equivalent experience
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components OR 3+ years experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
