Data Center Technician

About This Role

Join the AWS team as a Data Center Technician to maintain global cloud infrastructure, ensuring seamless data center operations that power millions of businesses and services worldwide. This role involves hardware and network diagnostics, physical repair, and on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, and troubleshoot network issues
• Respond to operational incidents that impact service availability
• Carry out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to AWS service availability
• Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors
• Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities
• Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues
• Help to interview, train, and onboard new team members

Requirements

• 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
• 1+ years of computer networking experience
• 1+ years of Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, or Data Center Operations experience
• High school or equivalent diploma
• Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed
• Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational
• Ability to lift and move material up to 40 pounds
• Ability to work in cramped and/or elevated locations
• Ability to bend, lift, stretch, and reach
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent diploma
• 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience, 1+ years of computer networking experience, 1+ years of Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, or Data Center Operations experience

Nice to Have

• Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
• Experience working in a colocation data center facility
• 2+ years of server hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
• 2+ years of Linux troubleshooting, including firmware flashes and BIOS configuration
