Manage engineering and technical services for U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier maintenance and planning, ensuring the overhaul and repair of equipment and systems. This role involves leading teams, providing technical guidance, and developing training packages for Ship's Force.
Responsibilities
- Lead teams providing technical guidance to Ship's Force on Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) and aviation equipment and systems, including combat support interfaces, damage control, climate control, and electrical distribution.
- Lead inspections, examinations, analysis, and incidental repairs, making recommendations for maintenance planning and repair on naval propulsion, auxiliary, and aviation systems.
- Liaison with ship’s reactor department for inspections, testing, and production work.
- Manage teams performing or providing technical guidance on fault identification and physical repairs for naval propulsion, auxiliary, aviation, and flight deck equipment.
- Provide technical support and advice to Ship's Force on operation, overhaul, and repair of auxiliary machinery, electrical, hull support, and aviation systems.
- Oversee or guide Corrosion Control Assessment and Maintenance Manual (CCAMM) for Maintenance System Work Package Planning (MSWP) and TYCOM Cableway Improvement Program (CIP).
- Develop updated training packages for TYCOM and RMCs, and provide formal on-board operator and maintenance training to Ship’s Force.
- Develop Formal Work Packages (FWPs) and Controlled Work Packages (CWPs) in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual.
- Manage personnel to support short-term and long-term contract efforts.
- Cultivate positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Active DoD Secret level security clearance
- Five years’ supervisory experience in technical assistance, maintenance, or design related to Navy Aircraft Carriers/surface ships
- Three years closely involved with practical aircraft carrier/surface ship maintenance, design, operation, and problems of main propulsion, auxiliary, electrical, and damage control equipment
- Two years direct experience with auxiliary, electrical, and damage control systems, including steam propulsion plants
- Two years direct experience with auxiliary, electrical and damage control systems for U.S. Naval Ships
- One year direct experience in Naval Nuclear Secondary Plant Systems and/or Non-Nuclear Interface Systems and verifiable knowledge of NNPI
- Two years of supervisory experience
- Knowledge of best practice maritime processes and support methodologies for MRO requirements
- Ability to lead and manage large teams
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering management or Associates Degree with relevant experience
- 7+ years of experience in related engineering management field, or 14+ years with an associate's degree. Includes 5 years supervisory experience in technical assistance, maintenance, or design related to Navy Aircraft Carriers/surface ships, with specific experience in maintenance, operation, and systems.
Nice to Have
- Experience as a U.S. Navy Engineering Duty Officer
- Experience working collaboratively with major US shipyards (e.g., Norfolk Naval Shipyard)
- Direct experience in nuclear and non-nuclear operation, maintenance, repair, design, test, and modernization (SHIPALT/SCD) of HM&E, Electronic, Weapons Handling, and marine diesel engine equipment on aircraft carriers and submarines
- Detailed knowledge of technical specifications and standards
