About This Role

This role involves assisting Physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures, preparing rooms, monitoring patients, and providing routine and emergency care. The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist contributes to quality control initiatives and the orientation of new team members.

Responsibilities

  • Help Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, implantable cardiac defibrillators, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy
  • Follow national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff
  • Provide emergency procedures like CPR and defibrillation as needed
  • Perform pre and post-procedure care and monitoring
  • Orient patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures and answer related questions
  • Monitor patient’s ECG, pressures, temperature and impendences while in Electrophysiology Lab; notify physician of variances
  • Help in running RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3D mapping, and records other procedural documentation
  • Manage and maintain images that may include stenosis testing, formatting and processing on both cardiac and peripheral cases
  • Help in procedure rooms and collect registry and quality data on appropriate forms
  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields for Lab procedures
  • Order and maintain inventory of procedure room supplies
  • Ensure procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment has not expired
  • Perform routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a related field OR completion of US military training program and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree OR 2 years of related cardiovascular lab experience
  • Must be available for On Call response requirements per facility/department policy
  • Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation and techniques
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology
  • Must live within 30 minutes of hospital
  • Hold an RCIS or ARRT certification

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related field, completion of US military training program and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree, or 2 years of related cardiovascular lab experience
  • Less than 1 Year of Experience (Entry Level)

ACLS (within 30 days of hire/transfer) (Required) Basic Life Support (BLS) (within 30 days of hire/transfer) (Required) ARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R) and MRT through TX Medical Board, or Cardio Invasive Spec (RCIS), or Reg Cardiac Electro Spec (RCES), or Cert Electro Spec (CEPS), or Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS) (Required)
