Construction Project Manager

About This Role

Manage commercial renovation projects from planning to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. This role requires directing construction activities, overseeing resources, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, coordinate, and budget commercial renovation projects to ensure completion on time and within budget
• Prepare and Update CPM Schedules
• Prepare, submit and track submittals for all trades
• Understand project specifications and interpret contract drawings
• Direct and monitor the progress of construction activities
• Oversee the delivery and use of materials, tools, and equipment
• Oversee worker safety and productivity and the quality of construction
• Prepare and submit monthly invoices and progress reports
• Attend construction progress meetings
• Communicate with and direct subcontractors, material suppliers, and field personnel
• Complete daily documentation of work and identify problems early to provide solutions

Requirements

• Ability to provide references to support work history
• Knowledgeable in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, tiling, architectural finishes, landscaping, doors & windows and other building/repair trades
• Ability to manage several projects at once complying with strict safety, quality, and technical protocols
• Ability to take a job from start to completion
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Highly organized and result-oriented with the ability to get work done by sub-contractors
• Ability to work closely with people of diverse backgrounds and levels of authority
• Computer literate and able to generate various construction reports
• Understanding of subcontractor scope of work to avoid unnecessary change orders
• Eligible to legally work in the US or have US Citizenship

Qualifications

• Degree or technical training in Engineering/Construction Management or related field preferred

Nice to Have

• Ground-Up construction experience
• Familiarity with The Blue Book and ability to contact multiple vendors/subcontractors
• Experience with Timberline, Expedition, Primavera, and Microsoft Projects
• Experience with a General Construction Firm located in the DC Metro Area
