Clinical Pharmacist

About This Role

The Clinical Pharmacist at Mass General Brigham performs professional functions under the direction of Pharmacy Specialists to provide optimum pharmaceutical care, focusing on medication order review, interventions with medical staff, and overseeing technician work. This role supports patient care, research, teaching, and community service.

Responsibilities

• Review medication orders and conduct interventions with nurses and physicians
• Oversee and check the work of pharmacy technicians, including dispensing medications and pharmaceutical preparations
• Participate in the quality improvement efforts of the department
• Participate on various patient care teams (medicine, surgery, pediatrics/oncology, sterile products, etc.)
• Serve as a member of the code call team by preparing medications and providing information
• Inspect and monitor medication orders and the dispensing of medications to patient care units
• Prepare continuous narcotic infusions on nursing units
• Evaluate and investigate orders for non-formulary drugs and make recommendations regarding therapeutic alternatives
• Interview patients to evaluate the severity and significance of adverse drug reactions (ADR) and allergies
• Document ADRs and participate in medication reconciliation

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or Pharm D
• MA Pharmacy license

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Pharm D
• 1+ years of Hospital pharmacy experience preferred
