Childcare Activity Leader - After School Teacher

About This Role

This role involves assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of classroom activities for childcare, focusing on the social, physical, spiritual, and mental development of children while maintaining their safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and implement weekly lesson plans that fit the children’s needs, interests and developmental levels
• Work cooperatively with Lead Teacher, Site Administrator, other staff and partners
• Document attendance, absenteeism, transitions, minor disciplines and incidents for each child
• Maintain the appearance and management of the classroom/designated program/outside areas
• Report broken or unsafe toys and properly disinfect toys and equipment on a regular basis
• Conduct the program in accordance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) guidelines
• Effectively communicate verbal and written reports to parents, and conduct parent/teacher conferences
• Possess working knowledge of child abuse and neglect laws and follow proper reporting procedures
• Handle discipline promptly and in accordance with the stated discipline policy
• Monitor and assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the child care and program area

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED. Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Six months experience working in early childhood field strongly preferred

• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and completion of YMCA Driver Orientation (for driving responsibilities)
