About This Role

The Chaplain provides pastoral leadership by coordinating ministerial activities, offering spiritual guidance to residents, families, and staff, and serving as a key ministry partner within the community. This role involves maintaining strong relationships with local clergy and integrating spiritual formation into campus life.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all religious gatherings on campus for residents and staff, including memorial services, prayer meetings, and Bible studies.
  • Develop and maintain routine communications with local clergy to keep residents connected to their chosen churches.
  • Manage an active program of visitation to support residents, staff, and caregivers during times of crisis, illness, or hospitalization.
  • Promote and oversee programs that provide residents with purposeful living and volunteer opportunities.
  • Actively participate in campus committees such as the Ethics committee and Spiritual Formation committee.
  • Provide multiple opportunities for staff and residents to hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Requirements

  • Ordination by the Evangelical Covenant Church
  • Masters of Divinity or Master of Arts in Theology or Chaplain Certification
  • 5+ years ministry experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Passion for ministry characterized by servant leadership
  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy and positive relationships with staff and residents
  • Appreciation for corporate structure

Qualifications

  • Masters of Divinity or Master of Arts in Theology or Chaplain Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years ministry experience in congregational ministry, hospital chaplaincy, missions or para-church ministry. Demonstrated experience with ministries to seniors is required.

Nice to Have

  • Clinical training in approved geriatric counseling programs
  • Pastoral experience in a congregate living situation
