Chain Hoist Technician

About This Role

The Chain Hoist Technician at Bandit Lites is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and repairing chain hoists, hoist control, hoist components, and hardware equipment. This role also involves educating road staff and production crew on proper maintenance and parts installation techniques to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Understand and abide by Bandit Lites' philosophy, policies, and procedures
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair chain hoists, hoist control systems, and hoist power distribution equipment
• Maintain inventory control of hoists, hoist control systems, and power distribution equipment
• Care and maintain rigging equipment, including steel cables, span sets, shackles, deck chains, O-rings, and pear rings
• Perform and oversee motor control panel builds to meet safety and functionality standards
• Instruct road staff and production crew on proper care and maintenance techniques for hoists and rigging equipment
• Supervise personnel assisting with hoist-related tasks
• Document performance issues or violations of guidelines by assisting personnel and report to HR
• Support other departments with hoist and rigging-related tasks and provide technical assistance during live events
• Collaborate with the production team to integrate hoisting equipment into rigging plans for events and shows

Requirements

• Strong soldering skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic devices
• Ability to read and interpret schematics for hoist control systems, power distribution, and related equipment
• Familiarity with testing equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools
• Comprehensive understanding of safety protocols when working with high-voltage equipment and electrical systems
• Ability to work with small components in confined spaces
• Experience with computer troubleshooting for control systems, motor drivers, and related equipment
• Knowledge of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), Stepper Motor Drivers, Power Supplies, Logic Circuits, and serial communications
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and to stand/walk for extended periods

Qualifications

• Associate degree or greater
• 5+ years of experience in chain hoist maintenance.
