About This Role

This role supports surgical teams by preparing operating rooms, assisting during surgeries, and maintaining sterile environments, crucial for patient safety and surgical efficiency across various specialty areas.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms, instruments, equipment, and supplies based on procedure needs
  • Assist with patient preparation, positioning, transport, and comfort
  • Establish and maintain sterile fields throughout surgical procedures
  • Scrub and assist during surgeries, passing instruments and sutures as directed
  • Support surgical teams across multiple specialties (e.g., cardiac, robotics, neurology, transplant)
  • Monitor and maintain aseptic technique and OR safety standards
  • Handle and identify biological specimens per protocol
  • Maintain and update physician preference cards
  • Adhere to universal precautions, sanitation, and infection control policies
  • Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and surgical staff

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program
  • BLS certification
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (within 180 days of graduation) or active LVN/LPN license

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Completion of a Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program
  • 2+ years of operating room or surgical experience preferred

Nice to Have

  • 2+ years of operating room or surgical experience

Certifications

BLS certification (Required) Certified Surgical Technologist (within 180 days of graduation) or active LVN/LPN license (Required)
