Certified Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

This role primarily focuses on providing friendly and efficient customer service while assisting pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of prescription medications. The Certified Pharmacy Technician will handle inquiries, prepare and process prescriptions, and maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy area.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service and treat customers as the most important people in the store
• Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and helping with heavy items
• Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service to customers
• Work with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
• Handle inquiries that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise and judgment
• Accept new written prescription orders and telephoned refill requests
• Take orders from or call doctor’s offices for refill prescriptions
• Gather patient information required to prepare prescriptions
• Assist in maintaining correct patient information
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing
• Prepare and affix labels to prescription containers
• Prepare prescriptions to be mailed
• Prepare and submit insurance claims
• File prescriptions after they have been dispensed
• Report any medication errors to appropriate personnel
• Order, check-in, and stock pharmacy supplies
• Perform cash transactions
• Maintain cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area
• Assist with third party insurance billing and troubleshooting
• Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
• Adhere to all statutes and regulations pertaining to a pharmacy technician
• Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines
• Administer Vaccines as allowed by law

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified as a licensed technician through a certified national program
• Maintains continuing education requirements to keep license active
• Ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems
• Ability to do arithmetic calculations
• Ability to compose original correspondence
• Ability to follow technical manuals

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

Nice to Have

• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk
• Vaccination certification as required by law
