About This Role

The Pharmacy Technician assists in performing paraprofessional tasks to ensure high-quality pharmacy services, specifically focusing on medication reconciliation.

Responsibilities

  • Review and update patients' medication records to ensure accuracy
  • Collect and organize patients' medication histories
  • Identify discrepancies between medication orders and actual usage
  • Consult with healthcare professionals to clarify discrepancies and make necessary changes
  • Explain medication instructions and changes to patients or caregivers
  • Assist in the transition of care by ensuring accurate medication lists during admission and transfer
  • Support the pharmacist to ensure prescriptions are filled correctly
  • Document interventions and outcomes of the medication reconciliation process
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with healthcare regulations

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Registered technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy or Pharmacy student current Pharmacy Intern License
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and patient privacy standards

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 year of Pharmacy experience preferred; Hospital Pharmacy experience preferred

Nice to Have

  • 1 year of Pharmacy experience
  • Hospital Pharmacy experience
  • Computer skills
