Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment, ensuring efficient patient flow and quality care at Texas Oncology. This role supports patients by performing exams, procedures, and various administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms.
- Record patient data including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain necessary patient records prior to treatment or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated.
- Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
- Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
- Perform administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, and chart preparation.
- May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Current BCLS certification within 3 months of hire
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Entry level position requiring 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
Nice to Have
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants
- Phlebotomy experience
