Certified Medical Assistant

About This Role

Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider. This role involves managing patient check-in, registration, and conducting preliminary physical tests, ensuring an effortless patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the check-in and registration process
• Interview patients and measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height)
• Record information on patients' charts
• Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis (as required)
• Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients
• Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments
• Coordinate provider referrals to specialists
• Conduct patient registration, including securing paperwork and insurance verification
• Perform preliminary physical tests and escalate critical cases to providers
• Conduct point of care testing (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
• Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception area
• Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
• Answer phone calls and manage postal correspondence
• Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out and securing the building
• Perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ARC or AHA)
• One of: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA, Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing (or LPN/RN), EMT, or CNA certification

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required, Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
• Medical Assistant experience preferred; Front Desk experience preferred
