Certified Medical Assistant

About This Role

This role involves assisting urgent care providers with patient examination and treatment, managing patient registration, and performing preliminary physical tests. The Medical Assistant will ensure a smooth patient experience and support the clinical team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider
• Manage the check-in and registration process, including securing required paperwork and insurance documentation
• Verify insurance and patient eligibility and process co-pays
• Interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height)
• Record patient information on charts and coordinate provider referrals
• Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
• Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients and perform point of care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
• Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception area, completing order sheets for inventory
• Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
• Answer phone calls, handle postal correspondence, and ensure reception is well maintained
• Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out and securing the building
• Follow operating instructions for equipment, perform daily controls/calibration, troubleshoot breakdowns, and submit repair tickets

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• One of the following certifications: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA; OR Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, LPN, RN, EMT, or CNA

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required, Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
• Medical Assistant experience preferred, Front Desk experience preferred
