The Medical Assistant at CloseKnit ensures efficient daily operations and supports clinicians in providing high-quality, accessible primary and immediate care. This role involves a blend of clinical and administrative duties in a patient-centered healthcare organization.
Responsibilities
- Assist providers with exams, diagnostic testing, and in-office procedures
- Conduct clinical intake, including detailed patient histories and vitals
- Administer injections and medications as directed by licensed providers
- Perform venipuncture and collect lab specimens (blood, urine, POC testing, etc.)
- Operate medical equipment such as EKG machines and other diagnostic tools
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and conduct basic lab procedures
- Educate patients on treatment plans, follow-up care, and self-care instructions
- Greet and register patients with a professional, friendly demeanor
- Manage check-ins, check-outs, and verify insurance coverage
- Maintain and update patient information in the electronic health record (EHR)
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program
- Current CCMA, CMA, or RMA certification
- Current BLS or CPR certification
- 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience
- Experience using EMR systems
- Competency in clinical intake and patient data collection
- Competency in lab specimen collection (including venipuncture)
- Competency in point-of-care testing
- Competency in EKG testing
- Ability to meet all applicable state requirements and maintain active certifications
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program
- 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience
Nice to Have
- 2+ years of customer service experience
- Experience in primary care, internal medicine, immediate care, or emergency care
- Familiarity with systems such as eClinicalWorks or Athena
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of population health initiatives
- Understanding HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards
