Cable Installation Technician

About This Role

Join the AWS Infrastructure Services team as an Installation Technician to support the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role involves maintaining and scaling next-generation networks by installing fiber and copper cabling, moving equipment, and ensuring safety standards within data centers.

Responsibilities

• Move and implement large enterprise equipment
• Install Fiber and Copper cabling and patch cabling between equipment
• Ensure proper safety and security standards during cabling and rack installation
• Follow established hardware installation procedures and perform break-fix activities
• Safely use material handling tools and equipment

Requirements

• High school or equivalent diploma
• 1+ year of experience in Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, or Data Center Operations
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds
• Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with primary responder rotation and after-hours support
• Ability to work in cramped, elevated, and/or noisy environments
• Ability to bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation
• Willingness to travel (over 50 miles) or commute (less than 50 miles) to active data center sites
• Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for regional travel

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent diploma
• 1+ year of experience in computer hardware repair, infrastructure cabling, network deployment, or data center operations

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment
• Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
• Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+)
