About This Role

Provide direct patient care to psychiatric patients in a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment as a Behavioral Health Technician. You will assist with patient admissions, orient new patients, and contribute to the plan of care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to psychiatric patients in a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment
  • Conduct therapeutic group sessions under the direction and supervision of the RN
  • Provide input to the RN to help develop the plan of care and assist in carrying out the plan of care for assigned patients
  • Assist with the admission of new patients and orient new patients and families to the unit
  • Obtain vital signs on assigned adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Provide care to patients in seclusion/restraint according to regulations and department policy and procedure
  • Collect laboratory specimens on assigned patients as directed by RN staff
  • Abide by legal aspects of care as defined by C.S. 27-10 including patients' right
  • Differentiate normal from abnormal findings and report abnormal values or conditions to the RN
  • Assist with admission, discharges, transfer and appropriate documentation
  • Chart patient visits using an electronic medical record

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
