About This Role

Serve as a Battalion Chief for the Department of Forestry & Fire Protection, overseeing operations and safeguarding people and resources in California. This role involves responding to emergencies and challenging situations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee operations as a Battalion Chief
  • Respond to emergencies and challenging situations
  • Undergo a complete background investigation in accordance with POST requirements
  • Maintain a current California driver’s license
  • Travel in-State on an as needed basis, including overnight stays
  • Participate in physically demanding field work under adverse environmental conditions
  • Wear respiratory protection equipment, including SCBA, and pass annual medical clearance for fit-testing

Requirements

  • Completion of POST Basic Academy (or qualified to attend within 12 months)
  • Current California driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a complete background investigation
  • Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) Clearance
  • Physically capable of performing duties including running, walking, climbing, jumping, twisting, bending, and lifting over 25 pounds
