The Bakery/Cake Decorator will deliver exceptional customer service and contribute to sales goals by preparing, decorating, and recommending various bakery items, including custom cakes, while maintaining a safe and clean department environment.
Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming customer environment by assisting them with product inquiries and suggestions
- Prepare bakery items, including custom wedding cakes, using proper equipment according to customer requests
- Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and other bakery items
- Monitor product quality and freshness, reviewing sell-by dates and taking appropriate action
- Label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies and inventory discrepancies to the department manager
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations
- Ensure compliance with merchandising, customer service, labor control, and safety rules
- Practice preventive maintenance on equipment and report items in need of repair
- Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity
Requirements
- Any retail experience
- Any bakery/cake decorating experience
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Knowledge of basic math
- Effective communication skills
