This role is responsible for maximizing equipment utilization by securing profitable backhaul freight for drivers, working closely with freight brokers and internal operations to reduce empty miles and protect margins.
Responsibilities
- Source and secure backhaul freight through established and new freight broker relationships
- Negotiate rates and terms to ensure profitable moves
- Communicate closely with dispatch and drivers to align backhauls with schedules and equipment availability
- Monitor market conditions and lane pricing to make informed decisions
- Confirm load details, paperwork, and broker compliance requirements
- Track backhaul performance and identify opportunities to improve utilization and revenue
- Maintain professional, responsive communication with brokers and internal teams
Requirements
- Experience in logistics or transportation administration/customer service
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Microsoft Office
