Associate Patient Account Representative

About This Role

This role involves performing billing, collections, and third-party reimbursements, with responsibilities for computer data entry and retrieval to ensure accurate patient accounts.

Responsibilities

• Perform charge and payment entry, ensuring accurate completion of coding for all assigned physician specialties
• Aid in the review of physician's coding and identify possible conflicts in rules
• Notify physicians when discrepancies are identified for correction
• Coordinate incoming mail with open queue charges to maintain queue status
• Read and interpret insurance explanation of benefits
• Respond to insurance payer edits, rejections, and denials
• Identify cause of rejections and choose most appropriate methods to resolve them
• Create detailed, well-versed typed letters to insurances and patients
• Create effective appeal packages to submit to insurances
• Communicate in an effective professional manner when speaking with insurances and patients
• Maintain organized files of incoming and completed work

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 0-1 years of relevant experience
