Assistant Manager, Patient Care - ICU

About This Role

This role manages team members, operations, and patient care activities within an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) during assigned shifts. The Assistant Manager will maintain a professional environment that supports high-quality patient and family-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead team members, operations, and patient care activities within a patient care unit during assigned shift
• Collaborate with team members and nursing management in the development of methods, techniques, and analytical approach to patient care
• Communicate, build consensus, and guide team members toward achieving department objectives
• Promote and maintain high quality patient and family centered care in a healing environment
• Create a professional work environment that encourages team member respect, engagement, accountability and optimal patient outcomes
• Provide direction and guidance to patient care unit team members during assigned shift
• Educate team members in new and existing department procedures and systems
• Ensure adherence to the established care delivery model, using knowledge of scope and standards of practice
• Facilitate continual patient care unit compliance with JC, CMS, New York State, DOH, Public Health Law, HIPPA regulations
• Demonstrate core clinical competencies for patient population of oversight to supervise and provide direct patient care

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
• 4-6 years of nursing experience
• 0-2 years of leadership/management experience
