Assistant General Manager

About This Role

As an Assistant General Manager at Panera Bread, you will lead a bakery-cafe team, overseeing operations, delighting guests, and driving business growth. This role focuses on inspiring and developing team members while ensuring operational excellence and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager by making key decisions and problem-solving.
• Plan and manage staffing needs, shift scheduling, and people development.
• Support the hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.
• Motivate, energize, engage, inspire, and celebrate the entire team.
• Manage team performance to meet bakery-cafe goals, operational standards, and guest service expectations.
• Partner with the General Manager to develop subject matter experts within the bakery-cafe.
• Ensure every guest is delighted by the quality of food, service, and team interaction.
• Build engaging relationships leading to long-term, loyal guests.
• Follow operational procedures to execute company strategies and initiatives.
• Ensure team members comply with company policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

• Minimum age: 18 years of age
• Proven ability to drive positive results through strong business acumen
• Proven ability to run great shifts while directing, motivating, coaching, and developing others in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects 50 pounds
• Capability to stand and walk for up to 6 hours
• Ability to clearly communicate and quickly understand guests and associates’ directions in a loud environment

Qualifications

• 1+ years of restaurant management experience preferred
