About This Role

This Assistant Controller role leads complex accounting, streamlines processes, prepares financial statements, and assists with year-end audits for a rapidly growing nation-wide business. It also involves researching technical accounting, supporting strategic initiatives, and mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the accounting of complex areas of a rapidly growing, nation-wide business
  • Communicate across various departments within the Company to create and maintain efficient workflows and processes
  • Evaluate process flows of information for key business processes, identifying the systems, risks, key reports used, and relevant internal controls from initiation to recording of transactions
  • Diagnose opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency of various accounting processes
  • Collaborate with the team to streamline processes, implement new workflows when needed, test new systems and train new team members
  • Use technology and tools to create financial statements and reports
  • Lead the team in the preparation of the Company’s consolidated financial statements and footnotes, in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Play a key role in the Company’s year-end financial statement audit, working with various functions and external auditors
  • Research technical accounting matters in a variety of complex accounting topics, developing practical and relevant applications of accounting guidance to ensure proper accounting treatment under U.S. GAAP
  • Work directly with the Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer on strategic initiatives
  • Serve as a mentor and supervise other team members

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience
  • At least 5 years of Big4 public accounting experience
  • Collaborative and able to work independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Organized and effective project manager
