Assistant CAD Operator 1 (Substation)

About This Role

GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant Substation CAD Operator to support Substation projects by performing CAD work of red-lined engineering markups and providing project support under engineering supervision. This role involves working with engineering and technical experts on electrical substation and protection & controls design services.

Responsibilities

• Open, revise, plot, and save CAD files.
• Assist in compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages.
• Utilize knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD packages.
• Assist CAD technicians and operators in skill development.
• Learn and utilize multiple software platforms including AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Attend project-specific meetings.
• Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure of deadlines.
• Work extended or after hours when required.
• Learn and contribute to improving GAI Engineering CAD Standards.
• Communicate effectively with the project team.

Requirements

• Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School
• 1+ years of experience
• Ability to learn AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical
• Basic 2-D line work and text editing skills
• Ability to identify and communicate inconsistencies in drawings
• Ability to follow verbal instructions
