GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant Substation CAD Operator to support Substation projects by performing CAD work of red-lined engineering markups and providing project support under engineering supervision. This role involves working with engineering and technical experts on electrical substation and protection & controls design services.
Responsibilities
- Open, revise, plot, and save CAD files.
- Assist in compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages.
- Utilize knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD packages.
- Assist CAD technicians and operators in skill development.
- Learn and utilize multiple software platforms including AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Attend project-specific meetings.
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure of deadlines.
- Work extended or after hours when required.
- Learn and contribute to improving GAI Engineering CAD Standards.
- Communicate effectively with the project team.
Requirements
- Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School
- 1+ years of experience
- Ability to learn AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical
- Basic 2-D line work and text editing skills
- Ability to identify and communicate inconsistencies in drawings
- Ability to follow verbal instructions
