The Asset Manager will oversee a portfolio of affordable housing properties, focusing on maximizing financial performance, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining regulatory compliance. This role requires strong analytical skills and hands-on property oversight experience, with a passion for mission-driven real estate.
Responsibilities
- Manage the financial, operational, and compliance performance of multiple affordable housing properties
- Conduct regular property reviews and site visits to assess operations, maintenance, and resident satisfaction
- Collaborate with property management teams to resolve performance issues and implement improvement strategies
- Monitor key performance indicators, occupancy levels, and operating budgets to ensure alignment with goals
- Analyze operating statements, cash flow reports, and budget variances; recommend corrective actions as needed
- Prepare and present financial and operational performance reports to senior leadership and investors
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local housing regulations, including HUD, HCD, and LIHTC requirements
- Develop and execute asset management strategies to enhance property value and long-term sustainability
- Support property dispositions, refinancing, and acquisition due diligence by providing financial and operational analysis
- Mentor junior team members, promoting professional growth and strong analytical and reporting skills
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in asset management, property management, or related affordable housing experience
- Strong understanding of affordable housing regulations and financing, including LIHTC and HUD programs
- Proficiency with property management and financial analysis systems such as Yardi, MRI, or RealPage
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in asset management, property management, or related affordable housing experience
Nice to Have
- Experience managing Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) properties
